MODERN PROBLEMS SEMICONDUCTORS,

Abstract

The article discusses properties, applications, and problems connected with semiconductors. Special attention is given to the developments in semiconductor physics resulting from the invention of the transistor. Problems which are to be solved for further progress in the field of semiconductors are discussed. A study is made of the physics of thin films, and laws governing the motion of current carriers are examined. A review is given of the results obtained in studies of optical effects, acoustical domains, semiconductor thermoelements, and superconductivity.
