AN EVALUATION OF THE VECTOR ANALOG COMPUTER, MODEL 5A, AREA NAVIGATION EQUIPMENT.

Abstract

The purpose of this evaluation was to investigate certain technical and operational characteristics of a Vector Analog Computer (VAC), Model 5A, Area Navigation Equipment in enroute and terminal areas. The primary emphasis concerned the effectiveness of the signal processor technique, the benefits of linear display of lateral course deviation, and the feasibility of using the area navigation equipment for straight-in approaches to non-instrumented runways.
