CONTINENTAL SHELF WAVES OVER A CONTINENTAL SLOPE.

Abstract

A numerical study is made of the effect of a continental slope and shelf of finite width on trapped shelf and edgewaves. A comparison is made between a numerical solution for a continental shelf of finite width and its simplified analytic solution. It is shown that certain modes of these quasigeostraphic waves can undergo exponential growth or decay under special conditions. (Author)
