LUMINESCENCE CYTOCHEMISTRY OF NUCLEIC ACIDS AND PROTEIN,

Abstract

Luminescence microscopy and cytochemistry have the foundations for extensive application, since they give to investigators possibilities, for the exact localization and identification in cells of various substances, their quantitative determination, and observations of transformations, and in respect to biopolymers (nucleic acids and apparently proteins) - the possibility of judging their physical and physico-chemical state, structural changes lying at the basis of physiological activity, and pathological disruptions. It can be assumed that luminescence cytochemistry in general, and relative to nucleic acids and proteins in particular, will become an important method in the development of molecular cytology.
