ANALYSIS OF RANK DISTRIBUTION IN A UNIVERSITY FACULTY.

Abstract

A Markov Model is developed to study the distribution of faculty in a university. The purpose of the paper is to determine the underlying factors that control the distribution of faculty members from one time period to the next. Maintainable and realizeable distributions are defined. The effects of appointment policies and promotion and retirement policies in controlling distributions are discussed. The model is tested by comparing the predicted output with real data. (Author)
