VENTILATION KIT APPLICATION STUDY

Abstract

The report describes the development and field testing of a methodology for allocating and deploying emergency ventilation equipment to fallout shelters. The methodology developed is based on six basic shelter configurations into which NFSS structures which require additional ventilation may be categorized. Development of the methodology consisted of using NFSS data for buildings and defining a standard set of ventilation equipment deployment plans for each combination of shelter and aperture configuration. The ventilation equipment considered in this methodology included a 30-inch manually-powered PVK, a 36-inch Kearny pump, and a 72-inch Kearny pump.
