STOKES AND ANTI-STOKES EXCITED VISIBLE EMISSION IN CADMIUM SULPHIDE AND CADMIUM SULPHIDE:SILVER,

Abstract

For cadmium sulphide recombination centres giving emission in the 2.40 eV and 2.0 eV energy regions have been studied under both Stokes and anti-Stokes excitation. The emissions in the 2.0 eV region are more complex than has hitherto been supposed. The nature of the emitted radiation is contrasted for both types of excitation and the significance of two photon versus single photon excitation is discussed. The sensitivity of the visible luminescence to infrared radiation in the 0.6 eV region is reported and this is discussed in relation to the energy level model. (Author)
