ROUNDING ERRORS IN POLYNOMIAL DEFLATION.

Abstract

Polynomial deflation is considered from three viewpoints. It is shown, a la Wilkinson, that the first method requires deflating using the smallest roots (in magnitude), the second method, the largest roots, and the third method, any root. (Author)
