KDF REFERENCE MANUAL,
Abstract
KDF is the subsystem which implements permanent disk files. It operates entirely outside of the TSS file-naming system; as a consequence, KDF files must be copied to scratch files before they can be accessed by the exec or by subsystems. Aside from this restriction, KDF provides most of the facilities of the scratch file system: symbolic names, public, private, and password access, and directory listing.
