PERCEPTION OF MILITARY EVENT PATTERNS IN A TWO-ALTERNATIVE PREDICTION TASK
Abstract
Activity patterns of an enemy may be the most tangible cues to his plans, and recognition of these patterns may be critical to successful military operations. The present experiment has set tentative limits on the event patterns men can learn to recognize to a useful extent. A computer may be a useful aid in detecting weak but significant patterns in an apparently random set of enemy actions. (Author)
