THE PYROLYSIS OF DIFLUORAMINE.

Abstract

The pyrolysis of difluoramine has been investigated over the temperature range 275-351C. Evidence is presented that in Teflon and Monel vessels the reaction is heterogeneous while in Pyrex Bulbs it is not. The reaction in the Pyrex bulb corresponded to a stoichiometry of 4HNF2 to 4HF + N2 + N2F4. The reaction kinetics could only be interpreted in terms of inhibition by a product. The kinetics were analyzed and an activation energy of about 43 kcal./mole was deduced. Possible reaction mechanisms are discussed. (Author)
