MENSURATION AND REDUCTION ACCURACY AND PRECISION STANDARDS APPLICABLE TO AN INTEGRATED, WORLDWIDE, TOPOGRAPHIC SYSTEM.

Abstract

The report relates errors of observing, measuring, recording, and computing and weaknesses in mathematical expression structures to the data acquisition, mensuration, and information processing phases of a proposed Army, integrated, worldwide, topographic system (IWTS). Mensuration and reduction standards are given to clarify, to consolidate, to make concise, and to free from ambiguity the statistic, analytic, and algebraic nomenclatures and expressions for IWTS. The conventional methods of the least squares and the statistical methods using probability/density distributions are combined. The standards in measurement of errors and analyses are foundations upon which the performance-prediction models can be assembled to provide answers to user requirements. (Author)
