SEASONAL AND LATITUDINAL MODELS OF ATMOSPHERIC TEMPERATURE, PRESSURE, AND DENSITY, 25 TO 110 km.

Abstract

The work was undertaken as part of the activities of the Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) panel on a new reference atmosphere, which will aid in the design of aircraft, missiles, and satellites. Based on available observational data, temperature models for the first of each month and for 10 degrees latitude intervals have been developed with values tabulated at 5-km intervals from 25 to 110 km. Pressure and density models have been developed by integration of the temperatures using new 30-km pressure values. Tables of log (pressure) and log (density) are given for the annual mean and for the first of each month. Temperature and density observations are compared with the models. (Author)
