A MODIFIED DATA ASSIMILATOR, DIGITIZER AND ANALYZER FOR USE WITH VARIABLE-AREA FILM SWEEP-SCAN READER.

Abstract

The variations in the earth's magnetic field may be recorded by any one of several methods. The methods of interest in the present report is the photographic recording method which produces a variable-area film record known as the Vestine-Chernosky magnetogram. Records of this type may be evaluated by the use of photoelectric reading devices. The output of the reading device can be fed into electronic equipment that will assimilate, digitize and analyze the data. The report describes the modifications to the existing electronic system which analyzes variable-area magnetograms and provides a magnetic tape recording of the analysis. (Author)
