ATOMIC AND MOLECULAR PHOTODISINTEGRATION.

Abstract

Partial photoionization cross sections are measured over a range of wavelengths using a photoelectron spectrometer and scanning ultraviolet monochromator. Measurements have been made with gases of importance in planetary atmospheres, and in some cases a detailed study of preionizing decay processes has been made. A windowless differentially pumped absorption cell with digital detection and data handling systems has been developed for photoabsorption measurements in the Lyman and Werner bands in molecular hydrogen.
