EIGENVALUE PROBLEMS AND THEIR APPLICATIONS,

Abstract

Eigenvalue problems have been studied intensively from the middle of the 18th century right up to the present, and there is a vast literature on them. The purpose of these lectures is to provide an orientation in this field, consisting of (1) A survey of the fundamental concepts and facts of the theory. (2) Discussion of some of the principal applications. (3) References for further study of the theory and its modern developments. (Author)
