COMMUNICATIONS SATELLITES, TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER, AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT,

Abstract

The use of educational television to improve the quality and quantity of education in developing countries is examined. A simple model relating economic development in emerging countries to education and the level of applied technology is presented. The use of television broadcast satellites as a means for improving education systems in developing regions is discussed in the context of competition for scarce resources and the requirement to concurrently develop educational software and infrastructure.
