THE MIXED BOUNDARY-INITIAL VALVE PROBLEM FOR VLASOV EQUATION,

Abstract

The mixed boundary initial value problem for the Vlasov equation is treated by double Laplace transformation. It is found that certain relations must be satisfied by the boundary and initial values in order to have a well-defined problem. The case of a cold beam in a cold plasma is treated as a simple example. An approach to the problem via discrete velocities is treated in an appendix. (AutHor)
