Abstract

The report contains a simplified proof of a recent result of Pimbley, as corrected by Parter, concerning the number of solutions of the Hammerstein integral equation u(x) = lambda the integral from 0 to 1 of K(x,y) H(y,u(y))u(y) dy for a given value of lambda.
