CUPRIC ION ABSORPTION THROUGH THE DENUDED EPITHELIUM,

Abstract

A method for calculating the change in plasma copper concentration, as affected by exposure of de-epithelialized surface area to cupric sulfate, has been derived. Full-thickness excision of skin of rabbits was used as the model injury and the denuded surface was exposed to cupric sulfate solution. The absorption of copper was shown to be an approximate straight line function of the combined parameters, surface area, time of exposure, and concentration of the soaking solution. (Author)
