STUDIES ON THE ANATOMY, PHYSIOLOGY, AND BEHAVIOR OF SHARKS.

Abstract

A summary of research conducted from 1958 through 1969 is presented. Topics covered are: (1) the directive function of shark sense organs in locomotion and feeding; (2) feeding and attack patterns of sharks, including jaw dynamics, tooth replacement, measurements of biting force; (3) elasmobranch reproductive patterns; (4) response patterns of sharks and porpoises; (5) chemical compounds and physical agents as shark deterrents.
