STACUSS 1: A DISCRETE-ELEMENT PROGRAM FOR THE STATIC ANALYSIS OF SINGLE-LAYER CURVED STIFFENED SHELLS SUBJECTED TO MECHANICAL AND THERMAL LOADS.

Abstract

A computer code STACUSS 1 for the small-deflection, linear-elastic, static, finite-element analysis of 'thin shells of revolution' having structural and/or material asymmetries has been developed. The code utilizes recently-developed stiffness analyses for doubly-curved quadrilateral and conical triangular shell elements, and straight and curved stiffener elements. Isotropic and/or skew planar orthotropic temperature-independent material properties are accommodated. Mechanical and thermal loadings are taken into account. Also included in the code are (1) automatic mesh generation and plotting and (2) both in-core and out-of-core solution capabilities. (Author)
