IN VIVO STRENGTH DEGRADATION OF SUTURE MATERIALS.
Abstract
An evaluation of poly(lactic acid) as a surgical suture was conducted to determine the effects of tissue fluids on the material. Tensile loads of poly(lactic acid), poly(glycolic acid), and chromic gut sutures were compared. It was concluded that additional work on poly(lactic acid) was necessary to improve the strength.
