MECHANISMS OF ENERGY TRANSFER IN DIELECTRICS.

Abstract

The positron through its annihilation characteristics is being used as a probe to determine the scattering cross sections needed to describe transient electronic effects in insulators such as polyethylene and polytetra-fluorethylene. Positive-ion defects in non-metal crystals are studied using positrons. A correlation has been observed between the intensity of the long-lived component of the positron decay spectrum and the positive-ion vacancy concentration. (Author)
