A MUTE PATIENT'S EXPERIENCE WITH MACHINE-MEDIATED INTERVIEWING,

Abstract

A hospitalized mute patient participated in seven machine-mediated interviews, excerpts of which are presented. After the fifth interview he began to use spoken language for communication. This novel technique is suggested for patients who are unable to participate in the usual vis-a-vis interview. (Author)
