WAVE HEIGHT MEASUREMENT TESTS.

Abstract

Tests were conducted to compare the sea spectra obtained by two different wave buoy configurations with sea spectra obtained simultaneously by the NAVOCEANO Wave Profiler, an airborne radar device. This report presents the results of the reduction of data from the two wave buoys. Analysis of the data indicates good agreement on the first day of tests, but significant differences on the second day. The effect of low-frequency cut-off is explored, and general conclusions are presented based on the tests. The data reported here are intended to be compared with the results obtained by the Canadian National Research Council and by the U. S. Naval Oceanographic Office. (Author)
