ESTIMATING THE AGE OF A GALTON-WATSON PROCESS.

Abstract

Point estimates of, confidence intervals for, and hypothesis tests about the age (in generations) of a Galton-Watson process with known offspring distribution are given for the supercritical and critical cases. Extensions to other branching processes are discussed briefly. (Author)
