CHARACTERISTICS OF THE GEOPHYSICAL FIELDS IN THE TERRITORY OF THE USSR (Kharakteristika Geofizicheskikh Polei Territorii SSSR),
Abstract
At present, on account of its irregular exploration, it is not possible to give a full description of the anomalous field on the territory of the Soviet Union; therefore the geological conclusions are in many cases only preliminary. The geothermal field is closely associated with other geophysical fields, with the characteristics of tectonic development in different sections of the earth's crust, etc. All this calls for detailed studies of the thermal conditions in the interior part of the earth, within the range accessible to direct geothermal measurements. Since drill holes are not proportionally distributed, knowledge of the geothermal conditions on the territory of the Soviet Union remains spotty. (Author)
