REACTION OF ALKYLPHENOLS WITH PHOSPHORUS PENTASULFIDE IN A FLOW WITH THE PRODUCTION OF AN INTERMEDIATE PRODUCT FOR THE SYNTHESIS OF OIL ADDITIVES,

Abstract

The authors report on a flow system for the production of diesterdithiophosphoric acids which are intermediates in the synthesis of oil additives. The reactor consists of a cylinder 250 mm long and 40 mm in internal diameter. It has four inlets at the top and two outlets at the bottom for removal of reaction products and introduction of inert gas. The reactor is equipped with a heating mantle through which thermostated glycerine is circulated. A suspension of phosphorus pentasulfide in 1S-20 oil, stirred continuously, is added from one dropping funnel while alkylphenols are added from another at the ratio of 1 to 4. The reactor is filled initially with reaction products and then the products removed continuously. (Author)
