AN APPROXIMATE METHOD FOR THE DETERMINATION OF THE NATURAL FREQUENCIES OF SINGLE AND STIFFENED PANEL STRUCTURES.

Abstract

Simple formulae are found to predict the resonant frequencies of various common panel structures. The types of structure considered are clamped plates and conventionally and integrally stiffened panels. The formulae for the stiffened panels are subject to certain assumptions which are generally valid for typical airframe configurations. The formula for integrally stiffened panels is applicable to the lowest order modes only but indications are given on improving it. Calculated results using these formulae agree favourably with figures obtained by more accurate methods and experiment. (Author)
