FORMULAS AND GRAPHS FOR A QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE FORBIDDEN RADIATION LINES IN EMISSION OBJECTS,

Abstract

Working formulas and graphs necessary for a quantitative analysis of the forbidden lines of emission objects are given. The results of Boyarchuk, et al., (1963) are made more precise, and convenient graphs are given for a fast determination of the physical conditions in a radiating medium, according to Seaton's 'intersection of curves' method. A general scheme is given for computer calculations of the ratios between line intensities and their absolute luminosity, with a consideration for the dependence of these values on the electron temperature, electron density, temperature of ionizing radiation and dilution factor.
