PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE DEPENDENCE OF THE DIELECTRIC PROPERTIES OF THE n-ALKANES AND THE ALKALI HALIDES.

Abstract

Measurements are reported of the temperature and pressure dependence of the permittivity of n-pentane, n-hexane, n-heptane, n-nonane and n-decane. Precision was plus or minus 2 parts in 10,000 in permittivity. The temperature range was - 20C to + 100C while the pressure range was 1 - 3,500 bars. Similar measurements are also reported for single crystal specimens of LiF, LiCl, NaF, NaCl, NaBr, KF, KCl, KBr, KI, RbCl, RbBr, RbI, CsBr and CsI and for compressed powder specimens of KBr and KCl. Values for temperature pressure coefficients of permittivity show wide scatter for single crystals but much smaller scatter for compressed discs. (Author)
