THE DOLLAR VALUE OF IMPROVED RELIABILITY

Abstract

A previous paper described a method for determining a preventive maintenance schedule based upon a part replacement prior to in-service failure. The model used related equipment operating time between maintenance actions under such a schedule to the expected average hourly cost of maintenance. The present monograph focuses attention on the savings to be realized from scheduling preventive maintenance and from improvements in reliability.
