ANALYSIS OF A RADIATION ABSORBING WALL-STABILIZED ELECTRIC ARC.

Abstract

A theoretical investigation is undertaken of an electric arc confined in a circular cylindrical tube when conditions are such that the arc absorbs as well as emitts radiation. Since theoretical expressions exists for the transport properties of argon, the gas in the arc is taken to be argon but the method of analysis is also valid when other gases are considered. The solution to the set of integro-differential equations which describes the problem is sought by an iterative method. (Author)
