SPACE FORECASTING DEVELOPMENT AND DATA PROCESSING.

Abstract

The Space Forecasting Development and Data Processing project is a Research and Development (R and D) effort under development at Air Force Cambridge Research Laboratories (AFCRL) in conjunction with the Air Weather Service (AWS). This R and D project is an effort to develop a series of mathematical models capable of processing astrogeophysical data in order to enhance the operational capability of the Solar Forecast Center (SFC). The computer programs developed are to be part of a larger system to be executed on a series of Univac 1108 digital computers at Offutt Air Force Base, Omaha, Nebraska. The developed programs will process and analyze incoming data for specific scientific disciplines closely related to pertinent solar phenomena and the effect caused on the atmosphere due to such solar activity.
