CAPSTAN DESIGN. (LOW INERTIA TRANSMISSION STUDY).

Abstract

A capstan suitable for driving an energy absorber for aircraft recovery systems was designed. Performance analysis of various contours were obtained using a capstan analysis computer program. The design is for a 1-1/8 inch diameter steel cable and a cable tension ration of 12 to 1. (Author)
