MEASUREMENT OF RECURSIVE PROGRAMS,

Abstract

The report surveys program measurement techniques and concentrates attention on the automatic generation of in-line instrumentation. Measures of program efficiency are developed for recursive syntax analyzers written in the META-5 language. The implementation of measurements necessary to evaluate programs according to the theoretical measures is described. Consideration is given to application of the measurements to the optimization of alternative ordering within syntax rules. (Author)
