ANALYSIS OF THE CROSS FLOW EXCHANGE IN THE GILLS OF FISH.

Abstract

Use is made of data on Skipjack tuna in the computation of the cross flow exchange for the same simplified gill structure used by them, so that comparison of cross and counter flow exchange may be made. In the absence of data on the oxygen and carbon-dioxide capacity of the blood of Tuna, data for mackerel was used. The particular case of a skipjack tuna weighing 1.67 kilograms is treated although the analysis is general and may be applied to other cases. (Author)
