BIOCHEMICAL INVESTIGATIONS ON BLOOD PARASITISM.

Abstract

A summary is given of the results of an investigation of the nature of blood parasitism by utilizing the obligate intracellular malaria parasite as a model for understanding intracellular parasitism. Selected for study were the quality and quantity of amino acids and proteins synthesized by the parasite and the manner of regulation of the processes which affect amino acid and protein synthesis by the parasite (Plasmodium) and the host (erythrocyte).
