THE USE OF LINEAR EXTRAPOLATION METHOD IN THE FORECASTING OF OCEANOLOGICAL COMPONENTS (O Primenenii Metoda Lineinoi Ekstrapolyatsii dlya Prognoza Okeanologicheskikh Elementov),

Abstract

The method of linear extrapolation of random functions was first used by B. N. Belyayev and V. S. Boldyrev in the forecasting of Atlantic currents. O. A. Ovsyannikova used it for the forecasting of non-periodic currents in the Black Sea. Within the framework of correlational theory, these writers attempted to forecast and calculate errors on the assumption that currents represent a random stationary function of time. (Author)
