SPACE WEATHER FORECASTING.

Abstract

The present state of space weather forecasting, its applications and forecast requirements are discussed. Physical basis of space weather forecasting is reviewed with special emphasis on the sudden ionospheric disturbances, solar proton events and geomagnetic storms. Precursors and indicators for the occurrence of these events its duration and severity are discussed. New areas of investigation are recommended. (Author)
