VARIATION OF THE MAIN GEOMAGNETIC FIELD IN THE DRIFT-REGION OF STATION 'NORTH POLE 13' IN 1965-66,

Abstract

From April 1965 through April 1966 Station North Pole 13 was drifting in the area bounded by latitudes 78-82 deg. N and longitudes 133-167 deg. E. In that year the ice field on which the station was located traveled a straight-line of 800 km in a general WNW direction, drifting over the continental shelf, the deep ocean, and finally crossing the Lomonosov Ridge. During the whole year, repeated measurements of the geomagnetic vertical component were made, in order to determine the anomalic geomagnetic field variations in regions of different ocean floor relief.
