DESIGN DATA FOR ACTIVE TRANSITIONAL BUTTERWORTH-THOMSON FILTERS.

Abstract

Tables and graphs are given to enable the elements of an active low-pass transitional Butterworth-Thomson filter, based on the work of Peless and Murakami, to be rapidly calculated. This class of filter, having steady state and transient characteristics intermediate between those of the Bessel and Butterworth types, enables an effective compromise to be reached between a high rate of cut-off and an acceptable amount of ringing. The Sallen and Key circuit is used and figures are given for filters up to the tenth order. An application to the design of a pre-sampling filter, used to minimise aliasing in a time-multiplexed telemetry system, is discussed. (Author)
