LINEARIZED SECONDARY FLOW BETWEEN CONCENTRIC CYLINDERS WITH A NARROW ANNULUS.

Abstract

A viscous incompressible fluid is contained in a narrow annular region between two concentric cylinders rotating at slightly different velocities. The annulus is bounded on tope and bottom by plates with angular velocities differing from either or both cylinder velocities. The solutions for the fluid velocity profiles are obtained from the linearized vorticity equations considered in the limit as the Ekman number vanishes. Four related problems are discussed in some depth. (Author)
