CERTAIN TEMPORAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE RECALL OF VERBAL ASSOCIATES.

Abstract

The paper deals with an interpretation of certain temporal characteristics of recall following varying amounts of reinforcement of the learning of a list of words. The specific purpose of the study is to apply an analysis to a situation in which groups of subjects, given varying numbers of presentations of a list of stimulus-words, were asked to recall as many as they could. Special concern is with the testing of a conclusion that the rate of production of items at any time is a function of the number of remaining items available for recall.
