EXPERIMENTAL TRAINING FOR OPEN-SEA SUBMARINE ESCAPE

Abstract

A pilot syllabus was developed for the purpose of training non-diver volunteer subjects for escapes from a submerged submarine at depths down to 100 feet. Five volunteers were put through the training. The syllabus included classroom, ladder training, buoyant ascent training, Steinke Hood training and Mark VII Submarine Escape Immersion Equipment training from the 50 and 100 foot levels of the escape training tank.
