CAPABILITY DESIGN SPECIFICATION FOR THE NMCS AUTOMATED INPUT PROCESSING SYSTEM (NAIPS),
Abstract
Present methods of examining and transcribing formatted messages received in the OJCS, Operations Directorate (J-3), require highly trained personnel and, due to the limited number of available personnel and the high rates of message traffic, results in unacceptable delays in updating the NMCS data bases to reflect the information received. The basic input processing capabilities required to satisfy the operational needs of J-3 have previously been described in MITRE MTR-5068, 'Proposed Operational Capability Description for and Automated Input Processing System.' The report presents a Capability Design Specification for the input processing system described in the above report; this system is designed to accommodate messages generated in accordance with the Commanders' Operational Reporting System (OPREP).
