A REVIEW OF ALGORITHMS FOR OPTIMIZATION.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to present several of the 'better' algorithms for finding the 'best' state of some system. In so far as it is possible, these algorithms will be compared and their relative merits and demerits will be described. A small attempt is made at proving convergence of each algorithm and no attempt is made to prove rates of convergence. A bibliography with comments is included for reference. (Author)
