SOME STATISTICAL ASPECTS OF POWER LAW PROFILES.

Abstract

The report contains mathematical analysis for wind velocity versus height, time sequences of optimal p values obtained by two least-squares techniques are studied, together with associated residual sequences, to obtain information on wind profiles as related to impact prediction of the M50 (Honest John). Among pertinent results is the dependence of p on wind speed and turbulence, which offers an explanation of behavior of p observed by other investigators. Also, a means is presented whereby p may be studied independent of wind speed and turbulence which should be of interest to meteorologists. (Author)
