CLIMATOLOGICAL INVESTIGATIONS IN THE ICEFIELD RANGES, SUMMER 1965. PART I. UPPER AIR WIND PATTERNS IN THE ST. ELIAS MOUNTAINS SUMMER, 1965. PART II. MICROCLIMATOLOGICAL STUDIES OVER THE SEWARD GLACIER SNOWPACK.

Abstract

Part I, 'Upper Air Wind Patterns', reports results of pilot balloon studies over the St. Elias Mountains, Yukon. Discussion focuses on comparisons of observed wind patterns, regional streamline flow, topography, and some existing wind models. Part II, 'Microclimatological Studies Over the Seward Glacier Snowpack', presents and interprets a 10-day heat balance. Component elements of the heat balance are discussed and interpreted. (Author)
